Amy Lou Adams (born August 20 1974) is an American actress. She is well-known for her comedic and dramatic roles. She has been featured three times in the annual ranking of the highest-paid actresses around the world. She has been awarded numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for six Academy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards.Adams began her career as a dancer in dinner theater, which she pursued from 1994 until 1998. She made her film debut with a supporting part in the dark comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). Her appearances on the screen included guest spots on TV and played "mean girl" roles in low-budget feature films. Her first role of note was in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Can (2002), but she was unemployed for an entire year after. Her breakout moment came when she portrayed an unassuming pregnant woman in the comedy-drama independent Junebug (2005), for which she won her first Academy Award nomination.
