Benjamin Gyza Affleck, born on August 15, 1972, is an American actor from the United States. He has been awarded two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and an award called the Volpi Cup. This is the top award for actors during the Venice Film Festival. As a child He was on the PBS educational series The Voyage of the Mimi (1984-1988). In the following years, he appeared on the independent comedy Dazed & Confused (1993), and numerous Kevin Smith films including Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999). Affleck was recognized more widely when he and his childhood pal Matt Damon won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the script of Good Will Hunting (1997) in which they also appeared in. Affleck became a prominent actor in studio films including the film about disasters Armageddon (1998) as well as the war-themed drama Pearl Harbor (192001), in which he also played.
