Bernie Taupin

Bernard John Taupin CBE (born 22 May 1950) is a famous English songwriter, singer and visual artist. The most well-known of his talents is his long-term collaboration with musician Elton John, a songwriting collaboration that is among the most popular in the history of music. Taupin composed the lyrics for many of John's songs. In 1967, Taupin responded to an advertisement in New Musical Express by Liberty Records. John replied to the same advertisement and they met, collaborating on many albums over the years. John and Taupin were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame 1992. John was the son of Robert Taupin, and Daphne daughter of John Leonard Palchett Poppy Cort, who was a University of Cambridge-educated classics teacher, and former rector of Sale, Greater Manchester (then known as Cheshire).
