Brian Anthony Boitano (born October 22nd 23rd, 1963) is an American figure skater from Sunnyvale, California. He is the 1988 Olympic champion, the 1986 and 1988 World Champion, and the 1985-1988 U.S. National Champion.He became a professional after the 1988 season. With the introduction of new rules by the ISU the ISU, he was back in the sport in 1993 and took part at the 1994 Winter Olympics, where he placed sixth. He was elevated to professional status. He was inducted into the United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame in the year 1996. Boitano was a graduate of Marian A. Peterson High School, Sunnyvale, California. Boitano is Italian American descent, with family from northern Italy. He has been living in San Francisco since he was an adult. In 1984, he was second at the United States Figure Skating Championships. This allowed him to compete in the 1984 Winter Olympics. He finished 5th in the Olympics, setting the stage for his future success throughout the next four years.
