 Carrie Marie Underwood, born March 10, 1983, is an American country music artist. Her fame grew after she won the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. The single "Inside Your Heaven" was the first country artist to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the only solo country singer during the 2000s with a number-one song on the Hot 100. Her debut album, Some Hearts (2005) was helped by the successful crossover singles "Jesus Take the Wheel" and "Before He Cheats", being the highest-selling solo female debut album in country music history. The album won her three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. The next studio album, Carnival Ride (2007) featured one of the largest opening weeks ever by a female artist , and was awarded two Grammy Awards. The third studio album she released called Play On (2009) was preceded by the hit single "Cowboy Casanova" and was one of the most significant single-week upward movements in the Hot 100.She achieved the second best-selling album by a female in 2012 and was awarded a Grammy Award with her fourth album, Blown Away (2012).
