George Harvey Strait Sr. was born on May 18th 1952. He is an American singer, songwriter and actor. Strait is frequently referred to as the "King of Country", and is a well-known singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer from the United American. The first single he released, "Unwound", was released in 1981. This marked the mainstream acceptance of the neotraditional genre. During the 1980s seven of his albums made it to number one in the country charts. In the 2000s, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, selected into the Country Music Hall of Fame and was awarded his first Grammy award for the album Troubadour. Strait was awarded the CMA Entertainer Of The Year in 1989 as well as 1990 and 2013.
