Gina Joy Carano (born April 16 1982) is an American actress and former mixed martial artist. She competed in EliteXC and Strikeforce between 2006 and 2009, where she compiled a 7-1 record. She was dubbed the "face" of women's MMA because of her popularity. But Carano refused to call her this title. After her first loss to Cyborg in professional MMA, Carano decided to retire from competition. She was later cast as Haywire (2011)'s lead, followed by roles in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) as well as Deadpool (2016). Carano also appeared as Cara Dune on the Disney+ space Western series The Mandalorian in its first two seasons from 2019 to 2020. After a series of posts that were controversial on social media, Lucasfilm announced that Carano would no longer appear in Star Wars media in 2021.
