Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born April 24 1982) is an American artist, singer as well as a writer and TV personality. Following her win on the 2002 season of American Idol, she was successful in securing a record deal with RCA. Her first single "A Moment Like This" topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the most-sold country single in 2002. It was featured on her debut studio album, Thankful (2003), that debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. Looking to redefine her look, Clarkson parted ways with Idol management and shifted towards pop-rock for her sophomore album, Breakaway (2004). Breakaway was backed by four US Top-Ten singles, including the title track, "Since U Have Been Gone", "Behind These Hazel Eyes", "Because of You", and "Because of You". It sold more than 12 million copies around the world and earned her two Grammy Awards. Clarkson also was in charge of the creative direction of her third studio album, My December (2006) by writing all songs, and also serving as its executive producer. The label, however, was not happy with the album's dark rock sound and pushed it back.
