Mamie Van Doren (born Joan Lucille Olander; February 6, 1931) is an American singer, actress and sex symbol. She is most likely best known for her role in the rock and roll the juvenile delinquency exploitation movie Untamed Youth (1957).Van Doren was born on February 6, 1931, in Rowena, South Dakota, the daughter of Warner Carl Olander and Lucille Harriet Bennett. She is of three-quarters Swedish origin; the rest is a mix of English and German. Van Doren started working at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood as an usher in the early 1946s. In the next year, she was a bit part on an early TV show. She was a member of Ted Fio Rito's group and competed in several beauty contests. She was married Jack Newman at 17 and relocated to Santa Barbara, California. However, Jack's abusive nature caused the marriage to break up quickly. At the age of 18 she was awarded the Miss Eight Ball and Miss Palm Springs titles in 1949. .
