Penelope Cruz Sanchez (/kru:th/; Spanish: [pe'nelope 'kruth 'santSeth]; born 28 April 1974) is a Spanish actress. Known for her roles in films of various genres, particularly those in the Spanish language and has won numerous distinctions which include an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award, in addition to being nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award, four Golden Globe Awards, and five Screen Actors Guild Awards. The only Spanish actress who has been nominated for and received an Academy Award.
