Robert John Downey Jr. (born April 4, 1965) is an American actor and producer. His career has been marked by critical and popular success in his early days, but was later hampered by a period of addiction and legal problems, and then a resurgence of commercial success later in his career. Time magazine named Downey among the 100 most influential people worldwide in 2008. Between 2013 and the year 2015, Forbes listed him as Hollywood's highest-paid actor. He made his acting debut in Pound, his father Robert Downey Sr.'s 1970 film. He subsequently worked with the Brat Pack in the teen movies Weird Science (1985) and Less than Zero (1987). In 1992, Downey portrayed the title character in the biopic Chaplin, for which he received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor and won an award called a BAFTA Award. Following a stint at the Corcoran Substance Abuse Treatment Facility on drug charges and a stint on the TV series Ally McBeal, Robert John Downey Jr. (born April 4, 1965) is an American actor and producer.
