 Taraji Penda Henson, /t@'ra/dZi/t@-RAH/jee was born September 11 the 11th of September, 1970. She is an American actress. After completing her studies in acting at Howard University, she began her Hollywood career as a guest actor on various television shows. She made her acting debut in Baby Boy (2001). She played a prostitute in Hustle & Flow (2005), for which she received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by the Cast in a Motion Picture nomination. She also played as a single mother of disabled child in David Fincher's Curious case of Benjamin Button (2008) in which she won Academy Award, SAG Award and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. In 2010, she starred in the comedy Date Night, and co-starred in the remake of The Karate Kid alongside Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.Henson also has an extensive and successful career in television, including shows such as The Division, Boston Legal and Eli Stone. In 2011, she starred in the Lifetime Television film Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story,
