Thomas Lee Bass (born October 3 1962) is an American musician and founder of the heavy-metal band Motley Crue. As well as being the band's long-term drummer, Lee founded rap metal band Methods of Mayhem and has been involved in his own musical projects.In the late 1970s , Lee's band, Suite 19, was frequently seen on the Sunset Strip club circuit in Los Angeles along with other new bands like Van Halen and Quiet Riot. Lee met Nikki Sixx, the bassist of Sister and London. Sixx was part of a theatre band that borrowed heavily from Sister's fusion of occult imagery along with a dramatic heavy metal sound, and became a fan of Lee's drumming. Lee Sixx, who stood 6 2 1/2 inches tall and had a lean body, dropped his surname during this period. When London ended up breaking up in 1981, Lee and Sixx decided to create a new group together.
