Whoopi Goldberg

 Caryn Elaine Johnson was born on on November 13 1955, is a famous American comedian, actor, author and a TV host. She was presented with the Mark Twain Prize in American Humor in 2001. Goldberg started her stage career with her one-woman show Spook Show. It transferred to Broadway under the name of Whoopi Goldberg and ran from 1984 until. She won an Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album for the production of the show. Her breakthrough in film was in 1985 when she played her role as Celie, a mistreated woman who is a victim of the Deep South, in Steven Spielberg's period-set drama The Color Purple, for which she was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the field of Motion Picture - Drama.
