angie

"Angie" is a song by the English rock group The Rolling Stones, featured on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup. It also served as the lead single on the album, which debuted on August 20, 1973.The track is credited, like many Rolling Stones songs are, to both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards However, it is recognized as being written almost entirely by Richards, with Jagger contributing some of the lyrics. "Angie" was recorded in November and December 1972 and is an acoustic , guitar-driven ballad that focuses on the end of a romantic relationship. The distinctive piano accompaniment, written by Richards, was played on the album by Nicky Hopkins, a Rolling Stones session-recording regular. Nicky Harrison arranged the strings for the song, as well as "Winter" as part of his arrangement. A peculiarity of the original recording is that Mick Jagger's vocal track, that was recorded prior to when the final vocals were performed, is barely audible throughout the song. This effect is often called a ghost vocal.
