Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara; born February 28, 1948) is an American actress, singer, and children's book author. Over a career spanning over six decades, she has starred in musical theatre, television , and film, as well as performed in concerts as a solo performer and released recordings. She is a highly-regarded Broadway performer. She has won seven Tony Awards nominations and won two of them (plus an honorary award). There are nine nominations for Drama Desk Awards, with three winning the award, while she has also been nominated for seven awards. She has also won Grammy Awards for four of the Broadway album casts she starred in. (2018).
