Dolly Rebecca Parton, born 19 January 1946 was an American singer-songwriter and actress. Also, she is a philanthropist, actress, businessperson, and philanthropist. Her work in country music is her primary goal. Parton's popularity as a songwriter led her to make her debut album in 1967, with Hello, I'm Dolly. The album was followed by great success throughout the 1960s both as an individual artist and also in an album series featuring Porter Wagoner, before she achieved her highest sales in the 1970s and continued through the 1980s. Although Parton's 1990s albums were not well-received, she was able to make commercial success during the 2000s. She has since released albums through various independent labels such as Dolly Records. Parton has sold over 100 million records around the globe. Her music features Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA-certified platinum, gold, and multi-platinum platinum-certified tracks. 25 of her songs have made it to the top. She reached no. 1 on the Billboard country chart which is a record for a female artist (tied with Reba McEntire). She's had 44 consecutive Top 10 country albums, a record for any artist and she has a total of 110 chart-topping singles in the last 40 years.
