 Mariah Carey (/m@'raI@/ born on March 27, 1969) is a famous American singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. Referred to as the "Songbird Supreme" and the "Queen of Christmas" She is known for her vocal range of five octaves and melismatic style of singing, distinctive use of the whistle register and the songwriting. Carey became famous in the year 1990, with her debut album titled "Emotions. She was the first artist to have her first five singles make it to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, from "Vision of Love" to "Emotions".Carey's debut album came out under the direction of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola who she got married to three years later. Carey's albums Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (944) and Daydream (1995) saw her gain further recognition. The singles featured "Hero"," "Without You" and" "Fantasy", and "Always Be My Baby". These songs topped the US Billboard Hot 100 decade end chart (1990s). After breaking up with Mottola, Carey adopted a new image and incorporated more elements of hip-hop in Butterfly (1997).
