Elton John

Sir Elton Hercules John CH CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight; 25 March 1947) is an English pianist, singer composer, philanthropist, and singer. Commonly nicknamed the "Rocket Man" due to his hit 1972 single of the same title, John has led a highly successful commercial career as an artist on his own since the 1970s, having released 31 albums from 1969. In collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin since 1967, John is well-respected by critics and musicians, particularly for his work during the 1970s, and his long-lasting impact on the music industry. John's showmanship, music and his music have had a major impact on pop music. One of the most popular collaborations in songwriting history is John's with Taupin. John was born in Pinner, London. He was a piano player from the beginning and formed the blues band Bluesology (in 1962). After the band disbanded in Bluesology in 1967 to embark on a solo career John met Taupin when they both replied to an advertisement for songwriters. For the next two years they composed songs for other artists.
