James Hetfield

 James Alan Hetfield (born August 3, 1963) is an American musician from the United States. He is the lead singer, rhythm guitarist, cofounder, and main songwriter of Metallica's heavy metal band. He is mainly known for his intricate rhythm playing, however, he occasionally plays solos and guitar solos in live performance and in the studio. After responding to an advertisement in The Recycler in Los Angeles, Lars Ulrich asked Hetfield to co-found Metallica. Metallica has been awarded nine Grammy Awards and released ten studio albums, three live albums, four extended plays and 24 singles.In 2009, Hetfield was ranked at No. 8 in Joel McIver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists and No. Hit Parader placed him at No. 8 in Joel McIver's book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists and No. 24 on Hit Parader's list for the 100 Greatest Metal Vocalists. Rolling Stone ranked him as the 87th most influential guitarist of all-time
