Jennifer Kate Hudson (born September 12 1981) is also known as her nickname J.Hud, is an American singer, actress, and talk show host. She has received numerous awards for her work in the fields of television, film as well as theater and recorded songs throughout her professional career. Hudson was the first woman and the second woman of African descent to receive all four of the major American entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony (EGOT). Hudson also was awarded an award on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013. Time named her one the top 100 influential people around the world in 2020. She gained notoriety as a finalist in American Idol's third season 2004 when she finished seventh. She made her film debut in the role of Effie White in the musical Dreamgirls (2006) in which she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and became the youngest African-American woman to win in a category for acting competition. After signing to Arista Records, Hudson released her self-titled debut studio album in 2008 and was certified Gold in the US as well as the UK, and won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
