Kate Winslet

 Kate Elizabeth Winslet, CBE (born 5 October 1975) is an English actress. She is known for her independent films, particularly period dramas, aswell as her portrayals in the headstrong and complex women of her time. She has won numerous awards among them an Academy Award and a Grammy Award. Time magazine named Winslet one of the 100 most influential individuals in the world between 2009 and 2021. She was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2012.Winslet studied drama at the Redroofs Theatre School. At age 15 her first appearance on screen was in the British television series Dark Season (1991). Her debut film role was an adolescent murderess in Heavenly Creatures (1994). She later won an BAFTA Award playing Marianne Dashwood, in Sense and Sensibility (1995). Her global fame followed her leading role in the epic romantic Titanic (1997), which was the highest-grossing film at the time. Winslet decided to stay clear of blockbuster roles to focus on critically-acclaimed period films such as Quills (2001) as well as Iris (2000).
