Patti LaBelle

 Patricia Louise Holte, born May 24, 1944, is famous for her role as Patti LaBelle. She is an American actor as well as a singer and businesswoman. LaBelle is referred to as the "Godmother of Soul".She began her career in the late 1960s as lead singer and the frontwoman of the group Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Following the group's name change to Labelle in the late 1970s and the release of their number-one single "Lady Marmalade". After the breakup of the group in 1976, LaBelle started a successful solo career. The critically-acclaimed debut album featured the career-defining track, "You Are My Friend". LaBelle was a popular solo artist in 1984 after the success of the singles "If You Only You were aware", "Love, Need and Want You" (later sampled for 2002's "Dilemma"), "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up". Two years later, LaBelle was a mainstream solo performer. In 1986, LaBelle had a number one album called Winner in You. The hit single "On My Own" featuring Michael McDonald was also a success. In 1989, Be Yourself recorded the classic "If You Asked me To". Celine Dion covered it.
