She was the main character in Saturday Night Live (1982-1985), Seinfeld (89-1998), The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006), Veep (2012) as well as Veep (2012–2019). She is among America's most successful actresses, having won more Primetime Emmy Awards, more Screen Actors Guild Awards, and more nominations than any other performer. Her career started in comedy when she was an actor with The Practical Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois. This led to her being cast in Saturday Night Live (1982-1985). Seinfeld was her breakthrough in 1990, where she played Elaine Benes for nine seasons.
